Honda Maintenance Minder Light Guide – What Do These Numbers Mean?

The Honda Maintenance Minder light, better known as the “orange wrench” that pops up on your Honda’s dashboard lets you know when your vehicle is due for scheduled maintenance.

Alongside the wrench will be a combination of letters or numbers that lets you know exactly which service your vehicle needs, this quick reference guide will break down what these numbers and letters mean so you know exactly what your vehicle needs:

Honda Service Codes

0 Engine Oil and Filter Change

2 Inspect and Replace Air and Pollen Filters
3 Replace Transmission Fluid and Transfer Fluid
4 Replace Spark Plugs, Timing Belt (if equipped) Inspect Water Pump and Valve Clearance
5 Replace Engine Coolant

Honda vehicles that are from 2018 or newer have done away with the A and B maintenance minder system that many customers are familiar with and replaced it with a pure number system, with 0 replacing A for basic oil changes and 09 replacing B services for oil changes with a brake service and inspection.

Some of the most common codes Honda drivers will see are 01/A1 and 019/B1 which will alternate every 8000-10,000 km. These scheduled oil change services are crucial to the longevity of your vehicle while performing scheduled brake services will save you money on future brake pad replacements.

While the maintenance minder can help customers remember when they are due or overdue for their next service, it's important to bring your vehicle in for consistent maintenance and service so your local Honda dealer can inspect the vehicle for a full vehicle checkup.
