What is Honda’s Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS)?
The Honda Sensing suite of safety features is designed with safety and ease of use in mind. In the constantly distracted environment that is driving, these safety features can save you bodily harm and thousands of dollars by preventing an imminent collision. Not everyone has perfect reaction times and that's why Honda’s Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) was designed. CMBS uses sensors and a camera in the front of the vehicle to constantly monitor the speed and distance of vehicles and pedestrians that are in front of your Honda. If the system detects an accident is about to occur it will provide a visual and audio warning, and even apply the brakes if the driver doesn’t slow down the vehicle.
How Does the Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) Work?
To activate Honda’s Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) you need to do the following:
- Put Vehicle in “Park” with ignition on
- Touch the “HOME” button on your display screen and select settings
- Next you will select “Vehicle” followed by “Driver Assist System Setup”
- Select “Forward Collision Warning Distance” and from here you can customize your CMBS to warn you and brake earlier or later depending on your preference.
Here is a quick video from Honda explaining how to use the system on newer display audio models.
