2023 Honda Accord Earns Top Safety Pick + from IIHS

The 2023 Honda Accord is awarded the highest honour for safety: the IIHS Top Safety Pick +. The IIHS, known as the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety is an independent, nonprofit scientific and educational organization. Notably, it dedicates itself to reducing deaths, injuries and property damage from motor vehicle crashes through research and evaluation. Additionally, by educating consumers, policymakers and safety professionals.

Six of seven evaluated categories were awarded the highest ratings to the new Honda Accord, a model that has long-set safety standards for midsize cars. IHS gave the Accord a "SUPERIOR" rating for the vehicle-to-pedestrian avoidance system during the daytime and an "ADVANCED" rating during the nighttime.

With this award, a combined six Honda models have earned IIHS’ TOP SAFETY PICK (TSP) rating or better for 2023, with three achieving the pinnacle TOP SAFETY PICK+ (TSP+) rating, including all-new for 2023 models: Honda Accord, HR-V and CR-V.

As part of Honda's "Safety for Everyone" philosophy, which focuses on enhancing safety for all road users, Honda Sensing® now comes standard on every new Honda automobile model, including all Accords. Here are some of the technologies available in new Honda models:

  • Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) with Pedestrian Detection
  • Forward Collision Warning (FCW)
  • Road Departure Mitigation (RDM) incorporating Lane Departure Warning (LDW)
  • Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS)
  • Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)

Honda has aimed to also have the new 2023 Pilot pass for TSP+ which has yet to be evaluated by the company.
